Neat thread. Look like we three have a craving for travel- how about the three of us rendezvous at Myra's place some summer and then take a tour of all the places we've wanted to go? I want to see England (okay, so you've already seen that!), Ireland, Scotland, Italy, France... and so on and so forth.
Okay, back on topic: I love Irish folk stuff. I love it so much sometimes I think I must have Irish blood in me somewhere (but I don't). I love the slow, sad stuff, and the happy, dancin' music. The sad stuff just takes you to... a place... that's green and rocky and by the sea... and misty... and there are pipes blowing away in the breeze... and your fella is off at sea and he's promised to marry ye when he returns.... And the happy stuff... oh, boy, those bohdrans (spl? It's a kind of drum, really cool) can just get into your heartbeat like it owns you.. I love that stuff. Irish folk music is probably my most favorite music in the whole world.
legolasluv, I know what you mean about the African music. i don't really get that feeling with music, but with voices. I'm originally from the Boston, Massachussettes area, and they have a particular way of talking out there. Whenever I hear a Boston accent, something wakes up inside, like a little piece of home tugging at my heart... it just makes me smile and makes me feel like I'm where I belong or something... it's hard to explain, I guess.
| Weep you no more sad fountains; what need you flow so fast? Look how the snowy mountains Heaven's sun doth gently waste.
But my sun's heavenly eyes View not your weeping, That now lies sleeping Softly, softly, now softly Softly lies sleeping.
Sleep is a reconciling, A rest that peace begets. Doth not the sun rise smiling When fair at ev'n be sets? |

You're not physco! I'll take you're words as a compliment, in fact.

I perfer Celtic music... it reminds me of the old ages and of fairies (because of paganism and all these). Especially my favourite singer is Loreena McKennitt and i'm about to start listening to Clannad. Does anyone else listen to that kind of music? Her songs are so dreamy...
