i actually haven't made up my mind about her writing yet (and i read the german translation...) but this is a book i think everyone should read at some point. it's so honest! some things she wrote seem to come directely from her mind and heart, things i would never have the courage to write down (even thinking noone would ever see it).
but i'm not sure wether she wanted her father to publish her diary. it's so personal!

As far as I know she wanted to publish her diary to make people aware of what had happened with the jews. That's the reason why she revised it and some pages were re-written. I think she only died before she could publish it herself....
Some people have no problem with publishing so personal texts. And I think for her it was more important to do something against racism....and that was only possible with a nonfictional text I think.

My mum read the English translation aloud to me and my sisters when we were little. I haven't read it really since. Sad, I remember--that she died in the end (of course). It's just sadder when you get to know her by reading her diary, and then to know that she probably starved to death... just really sad.

I watched the movie with Ben Kingsley. It was really good.

Weep you no more sad fountains;
what need you flow so fast?
Look how the snowy mountains
Heaven's sun doth gently waste.

But my sun's heavenly eyes
View not your weeping,
That now lies sleeping
Softly, softly, now softly
Softly lies sleeping.

Sleep is a reconciling,
A rest that peace begets.
Doth not the sun rise smiling
When fair at ev'n be sets?

To be honest...I don't like this book anymore....the whole WW2 topic annoys me...yeah, I might sound terribly indifferent now :-/ Sorry fer that. But it's like chewing food all over again...food that is disgusting.....It was a horrible chapter in history, absolutely agree! But at the moment I simply can't stand the topic anymore...

Sorry.....
